We were honoured to be invited to work with the Barbican Centre on their exclsuive new members' lounge. The Barbican Centre is Europe's largest multi-arts centre, as well as a listed building and something of an icon of British Brutalist architecture.
Project Brief The client wanted to create an exclusive, stylish and comfortable space for their top-tier members. The space, which has a terrific view of the foyer, was to reflect the values of the centre while also adding an element of innovation. Grade I listing meant that even the wall colours had to remain unchanged. So the entire scheme revolved around the furniture and lighting.
Proposed Solution Working closely with the client we developed a layout that met the brief in terms of space utilisation and a select range of furniture and lighting to create the right mood and atmosphere. In recognition of the heritage as well as the environmental impact of the project we sourced the majority of the furniture from UK manufacturers Hitch Mylius and Allermuir.
The lighting and furniture for the project comprised :-

JoJo Stools
